WiFi 5 AC Range & Speed Benchmark
Easily cover whole double storey semi-D house even on 5 GHz band with router located at middle 1st floor. Other budget routers can’t even get 5 GHz signal at end of the kitchen. As for 5 GHz throughput performance test, smartphone with 2×2 WiFi 5 was being used.
You can get almost 600 Mbps when near to router. And at least 300 Mbps for all the area on the 1st floor. For ground floor, speed is decent as well. Much better when compared to UniFi bundled router.
As for LAN, it performs almost perfect at 930 Mbps. Fast for sure. As for WiFi 6 tests, Asus PCE-AX58BT is being used. With AX 160 MHz, it can go over 800 Mbps from time to time. AC 160 MHz is not far behind. Performing very well too. How about AX 80 MHz? Getting around 600 Mbps here. As for AC 80 MHz, it is better than AX. Surprising result… Alright, let’s check out AiMesh wireless backhaul performance.
RT-AX88U is the main router and RT-AX82U as the node that connected to a PC through LAN. Above 800 Mbps for download. Upload is a bit slower. At end of the kitchen, it can almost get 500 Mbps for download. That’s great! Upload is slower as you can see. In short, AiMesh is the best way to get whole-house coverage with ultra-fast connection. RT-AX82U USB 3.2 Gen 1 performance is decent. 84 MB/s for reading.
And 57 MB/s for writing. More than enough for multiple people to stream 4K video directly from USB hard drive smoothly. Don’t forget the useful Download Master that takes over your PC for file downloading. Save more electric bill with it. 1.5 GHz tri-core processor is powerful. Rest assures it can serve more 10 devices at the same time smoothly while doing CPU intensive task like writing on USB hard drive.
Well, that’s all for Asus RT-AX82U review. A performing WiFi 6 gaming router with attractive LED light effects. Ultra-wide coverage with fast transfer rate. You can’t go wrong with it.
